Blogger's Quilt Festival

Welcome to my blog from Blogger's Quilt Festival.

This is not a new quilt, as you can see from the Christmas decorations in the back. It is, however, one of my favorites from the past year. At first glance, it is a log-cabinish quilt. But, when you look up close at the quilting, you can see portraits in the center section. I had fun with the quilting on this one, and plan to play with this idea a bit more in other quilts. I wrote about it first here.

What a great twist on the logcabin-I really think the faces are a great touch and elevate the quilt above the standard logcabin.

What a lovely Log Cabin variation. Like the color combination, but am especially struck by the quilting. What a novel idea to use portraits. Have never seen this done before!

What a treasure to have those quilted portraits! I was looking to see how you transferred the design and saw you used tearaway stabilizer. Have you ever tried it with the wash away stabilizer?

WOW. Ang, I am super impressed. The dino one is adorable too. I've been interested in learning to quilt since I was in college... even took a class once, but it was "improvisational quilting" and didn't really teach me the basics that I needed to know. I keep telling myself that I'll pick this up when my kids are older and I'm not so busy, but here you are with two their age, moving, applying for teaching jobs, and still quilting away the whole time. Makes me think!
